Bil Baird's CHARACTERS given NEW 3D LIFE
Davy Jones' Locker "dimensionalized" by Goldcrest Post; new 3D Ali Baba project in development.
Wednesday 1 December 2010 – NEW YORK, NY. The magic of Bil Baird's characters has been reintroduced for a new generation of fans thanks to 3D technology offered by Goldcrest Post that is currently mastering Joe Jacoby's DAVY JONES' LOCKER.
Jacoby Entertainment is working with Goldcrest Post in New York for the 2D to 3D "Dimensionalization" of Jacoby's evergreen family entertainment film starring the world famed Bil Baird characters.
Jacoby Entertainment, Ltd., has acquired worldwide rights in all media, including merchandising offshoots, to almost one hundred original Bil Baird characters. "Transporting these real-time, live-action characters in three-dimensional settings to 3D cinema, is a natural marriage that complements them both, and opens this art form to a new audience" says Jacoby. "We're excited about the prospect of taking this franchise out to international markets that might not have previously been introduced to Baird's wonderful talents."
The 35mm original negative of Davy Jones' Locker was scanned by Goldcrest Post at 3K for the two-month dimensionalization process, creating a sumptuous, 3D version of the film.
The fifty-two minute long 35mm film is being re-mastered in Stereoscopic 3D with Surround Sound for 3D Blu-ray, Worldwide Video Streaming, and Television release.
The New York Times review hailed Davy Jones' Locker a "weirdly wonderful" family program. Written and directed by Joseph Jacoby, the film was co-written by Baird's son Peter. Rowland Perkins, Co-founder of CAA, was an executive producer of the picture.
Jacoby Entertainment is currently developing ALI BABA & THE 40 THIEVES, also starring the Bil Baird characters, as a filmed 3D musical.
